HPL
HPL is High Pressure Laminate. Whether you call it HPL, CHPL (custom high pressure laminate) or DHPL (digital high pressure laminate), it’s the product most widely used for outdoor interpretive signage where image quality, longevity, and durability are the top priorities. In fact, HPL is so tough that it’s warranted for 10 years outdoors.
To create an HPL sign, start with the most advanced digital high resolution print, using the best UV resistant inks available. Lay it on top of a stack of resin-impregnated kraft paper, and top that with a layer of tough melamine to provide scratch, graffiti, and more UV resistance. Then, under extreme heat and pressure, cook it until the resins flow throughout the layers and fuse into a solid thermoset plastic that can never delaminate, crack or peel.
HPL is impervious to moisture, and extremely resistant to UV rays, scratching, and impact. Graffiti cleans off easily. It can be cut into shapes, and panels of 1/2” or thicker can be threaded for attaching to posts, pedestals, walls or railings without visible hardware. Turnaround time is about 4-5 weeks; shipping is from our vendors in the USA.

SAGE SDS
Sage SDS is Solid Digital Signage. Manufactured in Calgary and warranted for 5 years outdoors, SAGE is a high quality but inexpensive alternative to HPL. A high resolution digital file is printed directly onto either a solid sheet of white Intecel (expanded foam PVC specifically made for signage), or Dibond, a 1/8” composite material of plastic sandwiched between two skins of aluminum. Intecel panels of 1/2” or thicker can be threaded for attaching to posts, pedestals, walls or railings without visible hardware. Turnaround time is about 7-10 days; shipping is from Calgary.
