OUTDOOR MUSEUM

Interpretive Signage Experts

Outdoor Museum creates interpretive signage and exhibits for the rugged outdoors.

ABOUT US

Sure, we didn’t start off as experts, but we’ve learned a lot since our beginning in 1990. OM has created interpretive exhibits in most of the National Parks in the western provinces, in most of the Alberta Provincial Parks, and for many municipal and community clients.

We’ve had to learn variety of disciplines, including heritage resource planning, writing and research, graphic design, industrial design, and fabrication, manufacturing, and construction techniques.

Outdoor Museum is a factory-authorized sales office for the two major HPL (high pressure laminate) manufacturers in North America. We use a lot of it. Warranted for ten (10) years outdoors, HPL, also known as CHPL (custom) and DHPL (digital) comes in many thicknesses and finishes for both interior and exterior use. HPL is the number one material of choice for interpretive signage everywhere.

Outdoor Museum is also the creator of SAGE SDS (solid digital signage). Manufactured in Calgary and warranted for five (5) years outdoors, SAGE is a high quality but inexpensive alternative to HPL.

Top Dog

I’m a graduate of the Visual Communications Program, Alberta College of Art + Design. I’ve got 30+ years of experience in environmental exhibit design, focusing on interpretive projects. Prior to forming Mobius Design in 1990, I spent six years as a media planner and exhibit designer for Parks Canada. Mobius morphed into Firedesign (porcelain enamel signage) which along with Keith Keeler and Steve Vandyke morphed into KVO Industries. After helping to get KVO up and running, I went back to flying solo, forming Outdoor Museum in 2002.

Shop Supervisor

Thinks he runs the joint, but really just runs around the joint a lot. Barks orders at the rest of us like a short order cook. A danger to himself anywhere near the table saw.

Office Manager

Glamour Girl. Spends all day grooming, can’t even answer the phone. Poor typing skills. Not looking forward to the whining at her annual appraisal.

Apprentice

A.k.a the getaway driver. Was headed for a life of crime. Sprung him on bail and gave him a spot on the team. Recently lost his driving privileges after the “forklift incident”. We’re still not talking about it.
